Monthly Meeting: Jonas Dupuich

‘Creating long-term plans for improving your bonsai’. 

For our March meeting we will have club favorite Jonas Dupuich discussing how to create long-term plans for improving our bonsai. This is a timely topic as we assess our trees this spring to decide which are developed sufficiently for our show at the Marin County Fair, and/or what can be done short term to maximize their appeal. For members who aren’t ready to show trees the discussion of setting long term goals and a time table for developing outstanding trees will be most helpful and instrumental for setting a course for creating beautiful bonsai.

Jonas will begin the meeting with a short slideshow illustrating tree development and some show prep that can be done between now and July for our trees. Members are invited to bring ONE tree for Jonas to discuss during the meeting. The tree can be in any stage of development from training pot to 3 point display. This could be your best tree, or the one you think holds the most promise of becoming a beautiful bonsai down the road and needs input from a professional to take the next steps.

For members bringing trees they hope to show at the Marin County Fair Jonas will address short term goals for having them look their best including pot selection, defoliation, styling tips, etc. Please make sure pots and surface area of your trees are clean so as not to distract from assessment of the tree’s structure, health, and appeal.

This should be a terrific program and we hope to see many of our members there.
